Northeast Georgia
Bright lights and merry fun await at the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Winter WonderLights event, beginning November 24! Presented by the UGA Office of the President, this can’t-miss light show follows a fully accessible, half-mile walking trail through the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens. Along the way, visitors can make s’mores by the fire pit and enjoy warm refreshments as they gaze at the brilliant lights.
The Athens Famers Market welcomes locals to visit its Holiday Artist Market on November 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shop your way through 90+ vendors and discover eclectic treasures that will add holiday spirit to your cottage home. This market is set for November 30, along with the farmers market, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bishop Park.
Grab your winter coat and prepare for the City of Loganville’s Christmas Parade on November 30 at 6 p.m., followed by its tree lighting on the Town Green. Over 75 local businesses and civic organizations will parade through downtown Loganville during this annual tradition.
Cartersville
Looking for a family-fun excursion to kick off the holiday season? A Country Christmas, presented by Pettit Creek Farms, begins Thanksgiving night and promises merriment and holiday spirit for the whole family. This year, there are many activities to enjoy, including hayrides, holiday lights, pictures with Santa, a petting zoo and more! Pettit Creek Farms also has a Christmas tree farm, so be sure to visit early and snag a tree for your cottage home!
The annual Cartersville Christmas Parade will feature sleigh rides down Main Street on December 5, beginning at 6 p.m. Prepare to be captivated by floats and other visuals from local businesses, schools and civic organizations.
Brunswick
Join the City of Brunswick for its annual Christmas Tree Lighting on November 29 at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the holiday spirit with neighbors. This tradition aims to unite the community and give you and your family lasting memories.
For all things merry and bright, zip up your warmest coat and bring the whole family for a night of merriment at the Brunswick Christmas Parade on December 14. The first float takes off at 6 p.m.!
Another local tradition, the Mistletoe Market Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, is happening December 7 and 8 at Postell Park on St. Simons Island. Take advantage of the lineup of artisan vendors and unique exhibitors!
Dawsonville
Dawsonville is bringing Christmas spirit early with its annual Christmas Parade on November 23 at 4 p.m., followed by a tree lighting at 6 p.m. The Jingle Market from 2 to 8 p.m. is another festive opportunity with local vendors, food trucks and live music outside Dawsonville’s city hall.
Art lovers, check out Dahlonega Arts Alliance’s Holiday Open House to meet up-and-coming local artists and watch live demonstrations on November 29. Seasonal snacks and refreshments will be available as you walk around the gallery between 4 to 8 p.m.
Fort Oglethorpe
The Christmas in Fort Oglethorpe Celebration on November 30 offers an unforgettable start to the holiday season! The festivities begin with a Christmas parade at 6 p.m. and a vendor market from 6 to 10 p.m. at Stable 41. Kids can ice skate and visit Santa while you shop around and listen to the live holiday tunes.
There is no event like Reindeer on the Riverfront on November 29, an annual tradition in Chattanooga, Tennessee! Just 30 minutes from Fort Oglethorpe, this holiday treat welcomes visitors to enjoy live music, food vendors, mini-train rides and more. Santa will make an appearance, along with his live reindeer for pictures. At 7 p.m., the Lighted Boat Parade will light up the Tennessee River with dazzling colors. Fireworks will commence right after, spreading holiday cheer far and wide!
Some other Chattanooga holiday events include the Holiday Trail of Lights, a series of notable stops throughout the city and Holiday Markets at the Chattanooga Convention Center every weekend in December from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Savannah
Savannah bursts with jolly opportunities all season long, beginning with its City Market Lights and Delights on December 6. Local artisans will set up shop along W Bryan St., and visitors can look forward to caroling, food, refreshments and appearances by the American Prohibition Museum’s historical characters, embracing Savannah’s rich history. The City Market Shop and Hop begins the next day with even more vendors, a visit from Santa and the local favorite Ornament Search event.
This season, take a trolley tour with Old Town Trolley and be captivated during its Holiday Sights and Festive Nights Tour. Beginning November 29, visitors can ride through downtown Savannah, including a stop at the American Prohibition Museum and gaze at the spirited array of lights that blanket the city. Complimentary, non-alcoholic punch bowls are available during the ride.
